From the Best Buddies Committee:

Hi Jim,
I am working alongside a great organization, Best Buddies, to help recruit runners for the Philadelphia Marathon. Could you please provide the email below to the Ambler Area Running Club? My information is listed at the bottom should you have any questions. Thank you! Kim.

Imagine a world where you didn’t have any friends. Imagine waking up knowing that everyone you would see that day was a relative, or being paid to spend time with you.
Think about how that would affect your ability to go grab lunch with someone, vent about a rough day, or share goals you have---who would you call? Could you accomplish everything you have alone?

That is an unfortunate reality for many of the 8 million Americans with intellectual or developmental disabilities, but you have the ability to change it for the better, right here in Philadelphia.

Join Team Best Buddies in the Philadelphia Marathon on November 17th to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as you strive to complete your running goals! Click here for a first-hand perspective of the Best Buddies program in creating lasting friendships for people with disabilities.

The mission of Best Buddies Pennsylvania, a privately funded non-profit, is to provide opportunities for people with special needs to create meaningful friendships and become an integral part in their communities. There are currently Best Buddies programs in 51 middle schools, high schools, and colleges across Pennsylvania that operate without state or federal funding. These programs help change the lives of all students involved, with and without intellectual disabilities. Best Buddies needs your support to keep these influential programs running!

By committing to join Team Best Buddies and fundraising $600, you are directly sponsoring a one-to-one peer friendship for a person with disabilities for the year; all while accomplishing your personal goal in the half or full marathon. To review the full details and join Team Best Buddies click on the link below.

If you decide to join the team, we will help you set up an online fundraising page with your initial registration fee of $35.00 put towards your fundraising goals. Please share this opportunity to join Team Best Buddies with all of your running friends and I thank you in advance for your consideration in joining to support a great organization.

Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
Kim Haslip
